The foundation Art course focuses on developing visual competence for younger and less experienced Artists. The course focuses on developing skills and understanding with a view to Artists 'graduating' to join more advanced Art sessions once confidence and visual competence has progressed. Session groups are smaller so that Artists receive focussed attention on targeted skills. 

The classes focus on developing the areas outlined below, in order to provide children with a strong base for creating artworks once they 'graduate' into their chosen art class. 

• Fine motor skills

• Hand-eye co-ordination exercises

• Deconstruction of familiar objects helping them to 'see'

• Problem solving and analytical skills

• Dexterity

• Independence

• Imagination and creativity

• Exploration of materials, textures and mess

Above all, sessions aim to nurture a love of art and building self-esteem while celebrating and encouraging the children and the Art they produce.
